Samuel Rufus Moon was born on September 1, 1926, in Albemarle County, Virginia; he was the son of Samuel Cornelius Moon and Bessie Dora Moon of Esmont, Virginia.  Samuel married Helen Lucy Pleasants on September 19, 1958, in North Garden, Albemarle County, Virginia.  Samuel passed away on August 10, 1991, in the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, VA; he is buried at Scottsville Cemetery in Scottsville, Virginia.
