James Dudley Palmer was born on September 17, 1917, in Culpeper, Virginia; he was the son of Samuel W. Palmer (1867-) and Lelia (Elam) Palmer (1882-).  James married Hope Rittenhouse on October 1, 1938, in Warrenton, Virginia.  James passed away on July 30, 1977, in Scottsville, Virginia, and is buried in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Fluvanna County, Virginia.
