Donna Ruth Wakefield was born on September 3, 1924, in Henlawson, Logan County, West Virginia; she was the daughter of Lewis Willard Wakefield (1890-1974) and Mary Ann Stepp (1890-).  By the mid-1930's, Donna was residing with her parents and siblings near Schuyler, Albemarle County, Virginia.  Donna graduated from Scottsville High School in Scottsville, VA, about 1942.  Donna married Marius Dagmar Sorenson in California on June 5, 1943, when she was 18 years old.  She attended the U.S. Cadet Nursing training at the Robinwood Hospital School of Nursing in Toledo, Ohio, graduating in May 1944.  Donna enlisted in the Womens Army Corps on February 7, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and served in the WACs through the remainder of WWII.

Donna Ruth Wakefield passed away on January 3, 2003, in California.
