On 25 February 1945, David Palmer was wounded in action on Iwo Jima.  His brother, James D. Palmer, received the following letter from the Marine Corps almost six weeks later.  Later James learned that his brother had recovered from his wounds. 

David Clinton Palmer was born on December 1, 1922, in Fairfax County, Virginia; he was the son of Samuel W. Palmer (1867-) and Lelia (Elam) Palmer (1882-).  David passed away on September 2, 1987, in Kansas City, Kansas, and he is buried at the Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kansas.
