Charles "Charlie" Hill Bryant was born on December 1, 1908, in Buckingham County, Virginia; he was the son of John Edward Bryant and Susie (Steger) Bryant.  In the 1910 U.S. Federal Census, Charlie was living with his parents and two brothers in Slate River, Buckingham County, Virginia.  In the 1930 U.S. Federal Census, Charlie was living on Valley Street in Scottsville, Virginia, with his mother, Susie A. Bryant, and his three brothers.  Charlie married Edna Lewis Gentry on December 18, 1937, in Scottsville, Virginia.  After WWII, Charlie returned to Albemarle County, Virginia, where he passed away on December 13, 1961.  Charlie is buried next to his wife, Edna, in Scottsville Cemetery, Scottsville, Virginia.
