Albert Lewis Shumaker was born on September 6, 1922, in Nelson County, Virginia; he was the son of John Edward Shumaker, Sr., and Nina Pearl (Via) of Schuyler, Virginia.  During his WWII service, Albert was wounded in action on 4 March 1945.  After his military discharge in February 1946, Frank returned to Schuyler, Virginia.  Albert married Ruth Marie McGuire on November 27, 1946, in Charlottesville, Virginia.  Ruth was the daughter of Charles Henry McGuire and Anna (Dollan) McGuire of Scottsville, Virginia.  Albert passed away on March 17, 1987, at the VA Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia; he was buried at the Scottsville Cemetery in Scottsville, Virginia.
