Name: The William Thomas Moulton Family Date: ca. 1910 Image Number: RM18cdRM03 Comments: The William Thomas Moulton family is shown in this 1910 photo taken in Richmond where they lived on Floyd Avenue. At that time, William, Sr. worked for Boscobel Quarry just outside Richmond. After World War I, William Thomas Moulton moved to Scottsville where he operated Jefferson Mills with his son, John Adkins Moulton. Use the image below as a guide to the names of family members: (1) Daisy D. (Adkins) Moulton was born November 4, 1861, in Richmond, Virginia, and was the daughter of John W. and Maria (Crump) Adkins of Richmond, Virginia. Daisy married William Thomas Moulton in 1885 in Richmond, and they were the parents of three children: John Adkins, Mary, and William Thomas Moulton, Jr. Daisy died on December 7, 1918, in Richmond. (2) William Thomas Moulton was born on July 21, 1861, in Iuka, Mississippi, and was the son of Amos Galusha and Mary (Murray) Moulton. After Daisy died, William purchased Jefferson Mills, a working mill located on the Hardware River approximately three miles northeast of Scottsville. In 1926, William married secondly, Harriet "Hattie" A. Foland, the daughter of Peter V. Foland and Elizabeth "Bettie" C. Straton of Mt. Walla. William Moulton died on July 2, 1930, and is buried at Mt. Walla in Scottsville where he and Hattie lived. (3) John Adkins Moulton was born on April 30, 1895, in Richmond and was the youngest son of William Thomas and Daisy (Adkins) Moulton. After serving in the U.S. Army in WW I, John went to work with his father at Jefferson Mills in Scottsville. He married Innes Roberta Harris on June 28, 1923, in Washington, DC, and they were the parents of two sons: John Adkins Moulton, Jr. (1924-1929), and Randolph 'Ranny' Harris Moulton (1930- ). John died on September 14, 1950, in Scottsville. (4) William Thomas Moulton, Jr., son of William Thomas and Daisy D. (Adkins) Moulton. (5) Mary Moulton, daughter of William Thomas and Daisy D.
