          Name: Earl Roberts, 1908 Date: 1908 Image Number: R03cdR01 Comments: Earl Roberts, son of William Smithson and Mary (Stinson) Roberts, is pictured standing in front of their Scottsville home. This sepia-toned Burgess photograph was taken the same day and in front of the same flowering plant used in the hand-tinted photo of Earl's sister, Ruth. Earl Roberts was born on August 14, 1901, and attended Scottsville Schools. In 1922, he married Margaret Gienger in Scottsville, and they were the parents of two sons: Earl D. Roberts, Jr. (1923-2001) and Paul S. Roberts (1925). Earl and Margaret divorced in 1930, and he married secondly Winifred Black. Earl worked at Calhoun Watts Chevrolet Motors and Bradley Peyton's car dealership in Charlottesville. Later he became involved in real estate and owned several farms.
