George Willie Belton was born on February 17, 1925, in New York City, New York; he was the son of Thomas Belton and Alice (Jones) Belton.  In the 1930 U.S. Federal Census, George was residing in Slate River, Buckingham County, Virginia.  George enlisted in the Army on June 16, 1943, in Richmond, Virginia, and on his enlistment record, he identified his residence as Buckingham County, Virginia.  After his Army discharge in March 1946, George returned to RFD Scottsville, Buckingham County.  On May 19, 1946, George married Cora Elizabeth Jones in Buckingham County; they divorced on October 11, 1967, in Buckingham County.  George married secondly Bertha Johnson on January 22, 1968, in Charlottesville, Virginia.  In his certificate of marriage, George listed his residence as Scottsville, Virginia, and his occupation as carpenter.  George passed away on October 29, 1999, in Scottsville, Albemarle County, Virginia, and he is buried in Christ Church Episcopal Cemetery, in Keene, Virginia.
