Big Bass at Victory Theater

Big Bass at Victory Theater

Name:  Big Bass at Victory Theater

Date:  1924

Image Number:  B09cdB12

Comments:  John Bass displays two freshly-caught fish to a crowd of admirers at the front door of Scottsville's Victory Theater.  William Burgess possessed the unique ability to show up in the middle of an extemporaneous town happening and capture that moment on film.   This photo gathered folks from all walks of Scottsville life, who clearly marvelled at these huge fish just hooked by Mr. Bass in the nearby James River.  Judging from the smiles on everyone's face, these Scottsvillians seemed to enjoy having their picture taken, too.
